The resort

Good to know about Dorfgastein

Dorfgastein is the first village you come to as you drive into the Gastein valley, which makes it the quickest Gastein resort to reach: about 60 minutes from the airport. The Gipfelbahn Fulseck climbs from the village to the 2,033 m Fulseck, and from there you can ski over the mountain into the Grossarl valley.

  • Lies on the Tauern railway line
  • Only the last 7 km or so are on the Gastein valley road

The Gastein valley has three ski areas with 180 km of pistes between them, plus two thermal spas — the Felsentherme in Bad Gastein and the Alpentherme in Bad Hofgastein.

Expect €240 per vehicle for a single trip and €430 with the return leg. It’s our lowest price for the Gastein valley, because Dorfgastein sits at its entrance; the 80 km take around 60 minutes.

Which slopes can we reach straight from Dorfgastein?

The Gipfelbahn Fulseck takes you into the Dorfgastein–Grossarl ski area, which you can ski right across into the Grossarl valley. The Schlossalm and Stubnerkogel are further up the valley, near Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein.

How many passengers with ski equipment fit in the vehicle?

Up to 6 passengers with suitcases and full ski equipment. Without skis up to 8 passengers. For larger groups we add a second vehicle.

How do I pay?
