Neukirchen am Großvenediger lies in the upper Salzach valley, between the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Tauern National Park. Straight from the village you join the Wildkogel-Arena, a family-friendly ski area with 75 km of pistes that is open from mid-December until after Easter.

  • According to the Wildkogel-Arena, the world’s longest floodlit toboggan run: 14 km and 1,300 vertical metres down to Bramberg
  • The Wildkogelbahn from Neukirchen and the Smaragdbahn from Bramberg, both rising to 2,100 m
  • 85% blue and red runs, with the highest lift at 2,150 m

Two main valleys run through the Pinzgau, the western part of the Salzburg region: the Saalach valley with Lofer and Saalfelden, and the upper Salzach valley with Mittersill and Neukirchen am Großvenediger. Besides the Skicircus and Zell am See-Kaprun, the area has ski resorts of its own, such as the Wildkogel-Arena around Neukirchen and Bramberg.

Getting there: The shortest route goes via Bad Reichenhall and Lofer to St. Johann in Tirol, then over Kitzbühel and the Pass Thurn down to Mittersill and on up the Salzach valley. Please keep your ID ready for the section in Bavaria. Depending on traffic your driver may go via Saalfelden and Zell am See instead; the fixed price holds whichever way we drive. After snowfall chains may be required – our vehicles are winter-equipped, and we build extra time into the pick-up time.

Neukirchen is far up the Pinzgau, and the shortest route uses main roads the whole way, crossing the Pass Thurn — which makes for 120 km and around 125 minutes at the wheel. You pay €360 per vehicle, or €650 for both legs together.

How do we get to the long toboggan run on the Wildkogel?

Ride up with the Wildkogel lifts — a toboggan ticket covers the lift and the run. The run stays lit until late in the evening, but the last ride up is in the afternoon, so plan to go up in good time.

How many passengers with ski equipment fit in the vehicle?

Up to 6 passengers with suitcases and full ski equipment. Without skis up to 8 passengers. For larger groups we add a second vehicle.
