The resort

Good to know about Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen sits at 630 m at the head of the Zillertal, between its two ski mountains, the Penken and the Ahorn. From Salzburg Airport it’s a long drive of around 125 minutes, more than half of it on German motorways. The upside: you get in at the airport and don’t get out until you reach your accommodation.

  • Mayrhofner Bergbahnen: 142 km of pistes, 61 lifts
  • Harakiri: a piste with a 78% gradient
  • Valley run from the Ahorn: 5.5 km

The Zillertal branches south off the Inn valley. Its Superskipass covers four large ski areas with 546 km of pistes and 180 lifts between them: Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch, the Zillertal Arena, the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen and the Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000.

Getting there: Along the motorway through Bavaria to the Inntal junction, then past Kufstein on the Inn valley motorway and all the way up the Zillertal. With so much of the route in Germany, everyone travelling should carry an ID card or passport.
