The resort

Good to know about Obertauern

Obertauern sits right on the Radstädter Tauern pass, with skiing between 1,630 and 2,313 m. Many hotels are ski-in, ski-out, so there’s little reason to bring a car. From the airport we take the Tauern motorway as far as Altenmarkt.

  • Ski season from November to early May
  • Floodlit run at the Edelweissbahn on some evenings of the week
  • Passes of a day and a half or longer also cover the Grosseck-Speiereck ski area

Twenty-six lifts and more than 100 km of pistes join up around the village to form the Tauernrunde. You can start the circuit from almost anywhere, and it always brings you back to where you began.

Getting there: From Radstadt the last 20 km or so climb the Tauern pass road (B99). After snowfall, chains can become compulsory up there; our vehicles are equipped for it.

Can you get up the pass road to Obertauern in winter?

Yes, the Tauern road up from Radstadt gets you to Obertauern in winter as well. After heavy snow, chains may be required, and our vehicles carry them. For the trip back to the airport we build in extra time so you make your flight.

How long does the transfer to Obertauern take, and what does it cost?

Around 70 minutes for 91 km. The fixed price is €275 per vehicle, which works out at €69 each for four people.

Is Obertauern still worth it in April?

The lifts run until early May, and according to the tourist board the full Tauernrunde circuit is usually open until around mid-April. Our transfer keeps the same fixed price at the end of the season too.

How many passengers with ski equipment fit in the vehicle?

Up to 6 passengers with suitcases and full ski equipment. Without skis up to 8 passengers. For larger groups we add a second vehicle.
