The resort

Good to know about Kitzbühel

Kitzbühel is the home of the Streif, where the World Cup’s Hahnenkamm races are held each January. It is in Tyrol, yet only about 75 minutes from Salzburg Airport, without a single stretch of motorway. Around the town, KitzSki stretches from the Hahnenkamm to the Resterkogel.

  • Hahnenkamm races in January: super-G on the Streifalm, downhill on the Streif, slalom on the Ganslern
  • KitzSki: 233 km of pistes and 58 lifts, open November to April

The Kitzbühel Alps stretch from Kitzbühel through the Brixental and the Hohe Salve area to St. Johann in Tirol and the Pillerseetal. Several big ski areas sit side by side here, KitzSki around Kitzbühel among them.

Getting there: Via Bad Reichenhall to Lofer, on through Waidring and St. Johann in Tirol, with the final stretch on the Pass Thurn road. About 20 km of it runs through Bavaria, so please carry a passport or ID card.
