Mühlbach sits at around 860 m at the foot of the Hochkönig, below the Mandlwand cliffs, and of the region’s villages it is the quickest to reach from the airport. Skiing has deep roots here: according to SalzburgerLand Tourismus, the first ski school in the province of Salzburg was founded at the Arthurhaus on the Mitterberg in 1923.

For example at the Karbachalmbahn: there are ticket machines there, and you can hire skis, boots and poles right at the valley station. Mühlbach also has ski depots and lockers.
