The resort

Good to know about Zell am Ziller

Zell am Ziller sits in the middle of the Zillertal and is the Tyrolean gateway to the Zillertal Arena, which stretches from here via Gerlos to Königsleiten and Krimml. At the end of the day the Höhenfresser Tour brings you all the way down into the village — one of the longest valley runs in Austria, according to the Zillertal Arena.

  • Höhenfresser Tour: 1,930 vertical metres in one go, from the Übergangsjoch at 2,500 m down to Zell
  • A 7 km floodlit natural toboggan run
  • The Karspitzbahn takes you to the “sports downhill” run in a few minutes

The Zillertal branches south off the Inn valley. Its Superskipass covers four large ski areas with 546 km of pistes and 180 lifts between them: Hochzillertal-Hochfügen-Spieljoch, the Zillertal Arena, the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen and the Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000.

Getting there: We take the A8 through Bavaria to the Inntal junction, then the Inn valley motorway past Kufstein to the Zillertal exit, from where it is about 20 km up the valley to Zell. With over 90 km of the journey in Germany, please pack an ID card or passport for each passenger.
