Good to know about Ramsau am Dachstein

Ramsau sits above Schladming, facing the south wall of the Dachstein, and it’s above all a place for cross-country skiers: the trail network starts right in the village, and a separate glacier trail awaits high up on the Dachstein. Downhill skiers head down into the Enns valley to Schladming for the Planai and the rest of the four-mountain circuit.

  • The cross-country stadium in the village is the hub of the trail network

The four-mountain ski circuit links Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm with 123 km of connected pistes, topping out at 2,015 m on the Hauser Kaibling. Ramsau and the Dachstein glacier belong to the same region.

Getting there: We usually leave the Tauern motorway at Eben and drive via Filzmoos along the road below the Dachstein to Ramsau. Going through the Enns valley takes about as long, and whichever way your driver chooses, the fixed price stays the same.

Can we get up to the Dachstein glacier from Ramsau?

Yes. The Dachstein glacier cable car starts above Ramsau and climbs to around 2,700 m, where you’ll find a glacier trail, the Sky Walk and the suspension bridge — so your cross-country skis can come up with you.

How many passengers with ski equipment fit in the vehicle?

Up to 6 passengers with suitcases and full ski equipment. Without skis up to 8 passengers. For larger groups we add a second vehicle.
