The resort

Good to know about Zell am See

Zell am See sits on the shore of Lake Zell, and the Schmittenhöhe starts in the middle of town — the cityXpress gondola gets you up into the ski area in six minutes. Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier are a short drive away. From the airport it is 77 km through the Saalach valley.

  • Ski ALPIN CARD: Schmittenhöhe, Kitzsteinhorn and Skicircus, 408 km of pistes in all
  • Transfers in summer too, at the same fixed price

Zell am See and Kaprun share two very different mountains: the Schmittenhöhe above the lake, with 77 km of pistes, and the Kitzsteinhorn with 61 km, where the glacier season opens as early as October.

Getting there: The shortest route runs via Bad Reichenhall, Lofer and Saalfelden and crosses a stretch of Bavaria, so bring your passport or ID card.
